Franz Ferdinand, a moniker from the Austro Hungarian archduke who with his murder lit the match that was needed for the start of World War I became household names in 2004 after releasing their self titled debut album.

Singles like Take Me Out, Matinee and Michael took off and were all critically and publicly acclaimed. They eventually led to them winning the prestigious 2004 Mercury Music Prize.
