Counting Crows shot to stardom in 1994 with their debut album August & Everything After, which included the smash hit single Mr Jones.

Balancing the rock'n'roll sound of late 60s/early 70s guitar bands with angst-filled Nirvarna-esque lyrics of their grunge contemporaries, the band created a unique sound and won a very diverse set of fans.

Follow-up album Recovering the Satellites continued in this vein in 1996, a highly personal album that addressed the band's changing fortunes amongst other things. 2002's Hard Candy was critically acclaimed as the band's finest work to date.
